The basic Bridges of Hope concept and materials were created by Peter Labouchere and developed and adapted for different contexts, issues, programmes and target groups in collaboration with many different individuals and organisations.  Sincere thanks and acknowledgement go to all who have contributed to making Bridges of Hope what it is now.  Notable key contributions have come from the following:

Some original inspiration for what evolved into the Journey of Hope and Bridges of Hope packages came from an article about the Fleet of Hope in Book No.12: A Common Cause in the Strategies of Hope series edited by Glen Williams.  Fr. Bernard Joinet, originator of  the Fleet of Hope package, gave generous support and blessings to use and extend what he originated and developed with Jose Rivas and Theodore Mugolola.

Artists Theodore Mugolola (Tanzania / Fleet of Hope), Solomon Titus-Glover (Ghana) and the artist team from Idea Lab Pty Ltd (South Africa) all contributed to the current package of Bridges of Hope materials.

Chilimba Hamavhwa (Chainama College Hospital) and Mulenga Kapwepwe (Project Concern International) contributed to developing and trialling the Future Islands concept in Zambia.

Ryan Peters (20twenty, Cape Town), for his ideas to enhance the Role Play and Forum Theatre activity.

Several of the Bridges of Hope tools and training activites were developed in Ghana with Johns Hopkins University Center for Communication Programs, as part of the Journey of Hope package, a USAID/UNAIDS sponsored development for Ghana's national Stop AIDS Love Life Program.   Case Study: Addressing reservations about discussing condoms emerged from this program.

The Bridges of Hope tools and concepts have been further developed in collaboration with KANCO (Kenya AIDS NGOs Consortium) and various affiliated organisations in Kenya, including Goal Kenya.

The Standard Chartered Bank Living with HIV programme, (winner of 2 global awards)  initiated in Africa and then extended globally.

David Patient, who has himself been living positively with HIV for 20 years, co-facilitated the Africa Champions Conference and introduced a diverse range of fundamental ideas and approaches to staying healthy and living positively with HIV.  Several of these ideas and approaches, described in the booklet "Positive Health", are incorporated in Bridges of Hope.

Jo Manchester, Co-founder of International Community of Women living with HIV/AIDS (ICW), contributed the 'Risk Ranking' activity.

Gill Gordon gave permission to use various extracts from her book Choices - a Guide for Young People (available from TALC), particularly for the Key Information sections of the Users' Guide.  This Users Guide also includes some wonderful illustrations by Petra Röhr-Rouendaal, and thanks goes to Macmillan Education Ltd, for kind permission to reproduce them. Sally Price, Jane Miller and Andrew Hobbs all provided valuable contributions to developing, editing and refining the Users' Guide.
